| Dear Friend: So much has happened in the last two months. Our latest endeavor was the Talented Arts Event. For six weeks we worked on the program, and we feel it was a huge success, especially to the students. This type of event instills confidence in the students and gives them an opportunity to use their gifts in front of an audience. Our arts director, Julie-Ann Whitely Green, taught our students about music, but she also gave them the confidence they needed to perform in front of an audience of over 100 people. Below are some comments from student essays: All in all, I think we had a great performance. We used a variety of instruments, such as maracas, tambourines, drums, and piano. We also varied the types of performances with musical solos, poetry reading, group singing, and bell playing. Most importantly we were confident in what we did. I can’t wait till the next one! My favorite part of the show was the bells. We made the bells sound really good, and I think everybody liked the song, “When the Saints Come Marching In.” That was the first time I ever heard that song, and now I like that song because of how well we did it. We here at Christus Academy would like to thank all who made this event possible as well as those who support our school to make our wonderful school possible. In addition, without the audience, the great professional music teacher, and the ability for us all to put together this event, it would just have been another night. But, on the contrary, it was a great night full of excitement and togetherness. We are almost in the last half of the fourth marking period, but we still have many events planned. The Earth Science class will be visiting the Aquarium in Camden, we are going to Six Flags Great Adventure for a day of fun, and plans are in the making for an awards dinner.
