Dear Friend of the Academy:   

The new year has begun with wonderful support from donors, and we are very grateful.  In fact, we are now halfway through our first year at the academy, and things are going very well.  We thank God for so many blessings. 

In the fall we received gifts of desks and cheese, a real blessing.  Jim Cottingham from Lord of Life has completely revamped our computer lab and has it up and running after many hours.  How blessed we are!  We took two academic trips and learned a great deal about Batsto in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey and Ancient Egypt at a museum in Philadelphia.   

Our Christmas Banquet in the second week in December was a huge success with staff, students and their families, and members of the board in attendance.  We began with a sumptuous feast and then watched as the students recited poetry, sang songs, and rang bells.  Each student was given a gift certificate.  It was truly a wonderful event and a great way to look forward to the birth of Jesus.   

Our most recent event was the Inauguration of Barack Obama.  Our students attended the Inauguration on Tuesday, January 20.  How excited our students were to be able to attend this momentous event!  Please look to see photos of the students during their time in Washington, DC.  It is a trip they will remember for a lifetime! 

Academically, we have completed midterm exams and have begun the third marking period.  So much learning, both academically and spiritually, has been accomplished at the academy thanks to the dedicated staff of Pastor Carol, Book, Karen Bernhardt, Kristen Gillman, Marcia Grossmick-Acevedo, Lois Mahan, and Georgeanne Eagle.
